What’s going on with Double Glazing in Middlesex?

Enfield Council may be taking back control of council homes in the borough. The 16,000 council homes in the borough are currently under the control of ‘arms length management organisation’ Enfield Homes, and have been since April 2008, however, the increasing number of complaints from residents has forced the council to rethink the management once the agreement runs out in 2013. A number of homes are in dire need of repair and improvements, with some residents being left without heating or hot water for weeks. Enfield has the second highest proportion of non-Decent homes in the UK, with many properties requiring upgrading such as double glazing to help with insulation and heating bills.

Meanwhile, Hounslow Borough Council has rejected actor Colin Firth’s application to add solar thermal to his property. Oscar winning actor, Firth, is renowned for his environmental stance, and is likely to have plenty of other energy saving eco-features in his property in Hounslow Borough, such as double glazing, energy saving light bulbs and loft and wall insulation.  The application for solar thermal was denied by the council as the property is Grade II listed and it was felt that the positioning of the solar module would not preserve the architectural and historic significance of the building.
