Double glazing is one of the most popular choices for homeowners looking for energy saving ideas for their home. Double glazed windows can help to retain up to 20% of your home’s heat, which would otherwise be lost through single glazed windows. This means that you require less heat to keep your home warm, and therefore spend less money and save energy.

In fact, you could save up to £165 a year according to The Energy Saving Trust. uPVC windows are also more secure than single glazed windows. There are different locking methods available to choose from, and double glazed windows are made from toughened or laminated glass, making them much safer than a single pane of glass. Furthermore, double glazed windows also provide more insulation against outside noise, such as traffic and aircraft noise, helping to keep your home more peaceful.

The Latest News on Double Glazing in Berkshire

Residents in Berkshire affected by aircraft noise from Heathrow could be entitled to further help following proposed flight increases. The airport ran a consultation last year involving residents from Datchet, Wraysbury and Windsor and explained how further help may be available to those affected by flight noise.

The scheme may now be available to a wider area of residents, with those living nearest to the airport entitled to more funding. The help includes financial assistance towards double glazing which is known to lessen the affects of outside noise pollution. In extreme cases residents may also be offered help with sale costs should they wish to move away from the area.

Meanwhile, homeowners in Wraysbury and Old Windsor have signed a petition and sent it to BAA following the Heathrow consultation. The petition, which has been signed by 250 residents, asks for BAA to stretch the boundaries to ensure more residents get financial help towards double glazing. Each year, 480,000 planes come into Heathrow; however, there are plans to increase flights by potentially up to 25% each year.
