Deciding upon an energy saving feature for your home can be a challenging one. But with energy prices increasing every year, it’s a sensible idea to find out what your options are. Many homeowners across the UK have chosen to install double glazed windows in their properties to make them more energy efficient. Homes with uPVC windows retain up to 20% more heat than those with single glazing, which means that less energy is used and fuel bills are reduced. It also has a positive effect on the environment, with less carbon dioxide being generated and released into the atmosphere. A further benefit of double glazing is that it also insulates against outside noise pollution , whether that may be traffic, aircraft or general neighbourhood noise. This helps to create a more peaceful environment for you and your family. And with double glazed glass being more secure than single glazing, you can rest assured knowing that your home and your family are much safer.

The Latest News on Double Glazing in Shetland

The Shetland Islands Council is seeking help from its sister organisation, Shetland Charitable Trust, to assist with the high level of fuel poverty that is present on the Isles. Approximately one third of households suffer from fuel poverty and the organisations are looking for a solution to help combat it. There are proposals for insulation and double glazing that may cost more in the short term, but in the longer term will pay off. Other options being considered are winter grants of £200 per household, however, it is felt that throwing money at the situation will not solve anything in the long term. Homes on the islands need to be made more energy efficient, with a startling ninety four per of Shetland homes having either “poor” or “moderate” energy rating.
