Deciding which energy saving features to install in your home can be a hard decision to make, and with the initial expense it can involve it’s important to make the right choice for you. If you would like to save up to £165 a year from reduced heating bills, then double glazing could be the perfect choice for you. Single glazed windows can lose up to 20% of your home’s heat; heat that costs money and is simply wasted. Windows with double glazed glass are much more effective at insulating your home, and will help to retain this heat, meaning you need less heat to keep your home warm, saving you money and reducing your carbon footprint. As well as keeping the heat in, uPVC windows also help to keep the noise out, which is particularly beneficial if you live on a busy street or close to a busy road.

Double Glazing in Ross-shire – What’s New?

The Carbon Trust Scotland hosted a free carbon coaching workshop to support local businesses in Stornoway to reduce their carbon emissions. The event was held in March 2012 and was open to small and medium businesses from the area and provided an introduction to the services available from the Carbon Trust. Attendees from the companies were supplied with information on how to raise staff awareness and increase employee engagement as well as how to utilise free online carbon management tools. Businesses were helped to produce an energy action plan and develop an energy policy by identifying energy saving measures, from small things such as introducing energy efficient lighting, to larger options such as installing double glazed windows. It is hoped that the attendees realised the business benefits of implementing such measures, and from the positive feedback received, it is believed that the event had a significant impact on the outlook of local Stornoway businesses.
