Double glazing is one of the best ways a homeowner can save money on heating bills. Single glazed windows can lose up to 20% of your home's heat, and by installing double glazing, you can help to reduce the amount lost. This, of course, will result in lower heating bills for you, and will also reduce your carbon footprint and carbon dioxide emissions. Double glazing is a fantastic investment for your home - most double glazed windows last for twenty years or more - so there are plenty of savings to be had. What's more, double glazed windows can actually improve the security of your home as they are usually more secure than single glazed windows, and help to keep you and your family safe. Double glazed windows are made from laminated or toughened glass, which is much harder to break than single panes of glass, and they also come with a choice of various locking systems to improve security.

CompareMyLocal.com searches through prices from double glazing companies across Cheshire, from Ellesmere Port and Birkenhead, to Wallasey and Runcorn, to provide you with the best choice to make an informed decision. Because, let's face it, choosing to install double glazing is an important decision for your home, and one that shouldn't be rushed into. All of the companies we recommend have been thoroughly checked and vetted by us to give you complete peace of mind. And of course, our price comparison service is completely free of charge, so there's absolutely no risk to you!

The Latest News on Double Glazing in Cheshire

A Cheshire library that was previously earmarked for closure has been officially re-opened after being taken over by volunteers. Grappenhall Library in Warrington had been set for closure after visitor numbers fell. Today, however, it has over 500 regular borrowers of which more than 100 are 'friends' of the library and donate £10 a year to keep it running. In a recent boost, the library was awarded almost £10,000 to go towards a new kitchen on site. The library is now seeking funds to provide disabled toilets as well as double glazing to help ease running costs.

Elsewhere in Cheshire, it has been revealed that one in five Halton households is now in fuel poverty. The latest Government statistics released by the Department of Energy Change and Climate (DECC) stated that 9,236 of the borough's 51,148 cannot afford to use central heating, even during the coldest periods of winter. This is a 2.3% increase. Households which spend more than 10% of their income on keeping their homes warm qualify for fuel poverty. There are a total of 3.9 million households across the UK suffering from fuel poverty. With fuel prices set to increase further, there are now schemes in place to help those struggling with fuel poverty. Any energy saving measures that are added to a property, such as installing double glazed windows, can help to retain up to 20% of a household's lost heat
